Model is Griffin. She was fun to shoot and was using these photos for a project she has been working on putting together for her Mother.

She is also a good friend of mine up at school so i had no issue shooting some photos for her. She told me about the idea and within 20 minutes i threw out this location and we went. I had two flashes and dropped one in the rush so I had to suffer with one shot through an umbrella.

Location was 4th floor of the Education Building here at Central Michigan University. The interior is amazing! Here is what the chair setup looks like..

Here are some of the photos....

I think your images are fantastic, I'm not digging the harsh-ish shadows though.

Move her away from the wall/background a bit and the shadows will be softer and less noticeable.

I think these are really good. I like the colors and composition, its just that I've been trained to spot harsh shadows.

I liked everything except her poses. They seem too "posed".

Yes, actually the original she has more head room and now that you mention it and i look back it is a bit tight up top! Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks! During the entires shoot i kept thinking "These shadows are killing me!" haha I tried to move her away on other shots to get a softer shadow but the chairs were bolted to the floor and i was in a very narrow hallway. I wanted the chairs because i liked the colors of that little spot. Thanks for the info ill be sure to use it when i shoot again!

Im very very new to shooting people. This is my second time doing it so my pose technique really isn't the best. Ill keep poses in mind the next time i shoot! Thanks!

Thanks again for the positive and helpful feedback!

I like 'em. Given that she's not a pro and it's kind of a new thing for you as well, I'd say you did really well.

I'll give props to a fellow Chippewa any time! Fire Up! :D

I like that one too! The metal terminal thingy is an outlet for internet cords in case the wireless ever goes down in the building...haha...and subconsciously i thought to get rid of it, but when i went to process, i never did...haha

I might have to go get rid of it! haha..Thanks!

Thanks! Since we are pretty good friends she was pretty comfortable with it and was joking with me throughout the entire shoot. Made things real nice!

Thanks again all!

When I posted my comments you had not posted the pict of the narrow hallway, that with the fact that the chairs are bolted to the floor means everything considered you did a fantastic job.

The shadows aren't really that bad, in fact some of the shots I don't really notice them at all, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Keep shooting and looking for nice locations (colors and textures) and you will go far with this kind of work.

If you had a second strobe set on low, low, low power on the background to soften any shadows . . . but that can get complicated to figure two-light setups.

Very good pictures.

Yep, great model and she looks confortable even with the Jumbo Acousitc. The hard-surfaced glare in every pic kinda kills the shots for me.

Yeahh...the glare is a downer for me too. Oh well, i'll try better next time! Wasn't much i could do about it with one flash and how some of the locations were set up...

Thanks for the feedback too! I appreciate it!
