Why would you do that? Looks way uglier.
He looks much older and kinda creepy tonemapped, not digging the end result.

I wasn't aiming to make him look good - he's meant to look upset, and the end product is meant to be more dramatic and emotive. I'm glad you think he looks older and creepy, lol. :)

Well then you succeeded, I still don't understand why that was your purpose though :p

I like it. The processing ties in the emotional mood of the shot. I don't think this would work with all photographs but with this one, I think you achieved what you were going for.

The last one has the most impact and portrays the emotion better. I'm not sure about the crop though.

Love it Jack... the detail in the hair, the eyes and the tear drop (in the conversion) mixed with the removal of the colour really bring out the mood compared to the first shot.

Like the second picture. Seems to me that is what HDR is about, show detail in both the shadows and highlights.

I think you have achieved a good set of images with these effects. However for some reason I find it very funny. His look is quite amusing and Skydiver-8's comment has me in bits.

Anyway well done on the end product. The image looks loads better and there is a good deal of emotion. I do agree that the crop could have been better.
