Hey I was just wondering if there a difference in performance between lenses (100mm 2.8 for example) purchased in April 2005 and one purchased/produced later? Does Canon improve anything or does it stay the same? Thanks!

Then of course IS has been introduced and many (but not all) lenses have been redesigned to incorporate that. Richard

Best to ask about a specific lens. Yes, there is an older version of the 100/2.8 macro lens. GEAR LIST

Thanks! it really depends on the specific lens. some lens are improved (24-105L) and some are said to be silently improved (100-400L). http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/

I bought my EF 70-200 f/2.8 L USM and EF 24-70 f/2.8 L USM lenses in November 2005 and neither have seen any revisions. There a 70-200 f/2.8 IS and there's a rumor of a 24-70 f/2.8 IS version coming out soon. Canon 7D | 50 1.4 | 17-55 IS | 10-22 | 18-55 IS | 70-200 F4 IS | 430EX
