Very Terrifying Lesson Today - Graphic

I was scouting out locations to do some HDR photography today and I found a very scary looking abandoned house. With an absence of no trespassing signs - which I took as an invitation - I grabbed my camera and began exploring. My stomach was churning and every fiber of my being told me not to go in. But, against my better judgment, I did anyway.

I wasn't paying much attention to where I was stepping because I was trying to make sure nobody was in the house when I slipped on something wet. I looked down at what appeared to be a small pool of BLOOD! My heart was beating a million times a minute and I knew I should have ran outside to call 911. But - like a clueless victim in a horror movie, my curiosity got the best of me and I continued into the house.

What I saw next was absolutely TERRIFYING. It looked like a scene from Helter Skelter with blood splattered all over the place, including the floor, the walls, and all over a mattress on the floor!

Luckily, I soon realized that it was all fake.

I have no idea who would go through so much trouble to make the scene look so realistic and I know it wasn't a Halloween haunted house leftover.

Weird. Anyway, I was so freaked out that I didn't get very good photos but here you go...

So what told you it was fake? And did you realize this before or after you started taking the rest of the pictures?

I would have stepped out anyway, and called the police. Maybe only some of its fake?

I think he knew it was fake by the colour of the blood. It's too red for old blood. I'm really curious to know what the purpose was though.

Yeah, the color gave it away. One thing that was VERY weird is that they actually took the time to soak rose pedals in the fake blood and spread them throughout the house. You can see a few of them in the photo. It was probably an elaborate practical joke by somebody with a very sick mind. The ironic thing is that there was nearly a real body - mine from heart failure!

Ah...I'd call the police anyway..What if it was recent? What if only some of it is fake ? I don't know how fake that looks and think about it - who goes to that kind of trouble? Maybe it happened an hour ago or something.

That much blood fresh enough to still be bright red would have had an odor he would not have been able to miss.

Am I pre-cognitive or have we seen this shot before?

I would agree :) I've actually stumbled upon an old "fake blood" scene myself. It was in an old warehouse that is frequently used by other photogs and videographers.

You guys might have a point about it being a former photography site. It will probably show up on a goth video or album cover sooner or later.

Or - if it was real - they will find my footprints and DNA all over the place and I'll end up in jail.

Hopefully it's the former rather than the latter.
