Hello there...
I didn't know this lens even exist... This is a good option isntead of the great but expensive 24L II.

What do you say about this lens? AF speed? IQ?

Does it work on a full frame (5d2)?

Any comments will be really helpful :)

Well Sigma also makes a 24mm f1.8 macro.. so i would consider that one if you are looking for the 24mm focal length. Any lens with the denotation "DG" for Sigma works on full frame. Sigma also makes a 20mm F1.8 FYI.

Cant comment on the comparability with the Canon as I have not owned either lens.... but I would venture to say that nothing will quite compare with the 24L.... but i cant see the Sigma not being worth every penny for the price.... IQ should be good and the AF speed probably not quite so fast as none of the lens mentioned in this thread thus far have HSM. build quality should also be decent as they are EX lenses.

I have the sigma 24mm f/1.8 Macro and on the 5dmkII it's quite amazing. The quality is dead on for my copy, luckily. I didn't even have to micro adjust the lens.

The focus is slower and louder than USM and of course L lenses, but you know that. If a slow and loud focus system will make or break you, then this lens is not for you.

Image quality is quite fantastic. I even tested this lens on a t1i and it garnered great results. See one below... keep in mind this is not on my 5dmkII...

That is the lens to which the OP referred: there is only one Sigma 24mm f/1.8 and it is a near-macro (1:2.7). There used to be a 24mm f/2.8 near-macro, which was replaced by the f/1.8.

I tried the current f/1.8 briefly before choosing the 30mm, which is not 135 compatible but has faster AF and highly rated optics. The 24mm seemed fine optically, but I couldn't really make a fair assessment based on one short test. I haven't seen any professional reviews of the current 24mm.

Actually, Sigma made 20/1.8, 24/1.8 and 28/1.8 lenses. All are called "macro" and are DG or full frame compatible. None of them have HSM (similar to USM). I was under the impression they were discontinued now, though still pretty widely available.

I doubt if they are discontinued yet: they all seem to be widely available here.
