This is the worlds largest gull, with a wing span of up to six feet. They are omnivorous and can apparently swallow a small duck whole! Unfortunately none of these shots contain a reference point to properly demonstrate the size of this gull.....they are about the same size as a Canada Goose. These were taken Friday morning in Port Hope, where the winds were gusting to about 40km/hr & the wind chill was minus twenty Celsius.

Now that is a formidable gull! Excellent shots Scott, the whites & blacks are so very natural & well done.

Thanks Sharon, they sure are big. They are found mostly on the Atlantic shoreline in the North American North East and the European North West, however they do come down the St. Lawrence River to the Great Lakes (where this one was).

Thanks db, they are difficult like any other B&W bird. I prefer detail in the blacks, which usually creates lots of hot whites.
