Yet again we see the dangers of ordering equipment just before you need it.

Fair enough and point taken.

But - and I know this might sound a bit strange - I thought that if I ordered something brand new from a reputable company it might actually work.

That is a reasonable expectation, but personally I plan to have things I need well in advance. I'm a pessimist when it comes to equipment and shipping.

Fortunately I haven't had to learn this particular lesson the hard way. I learned my backup lesson the hard way though, with both my cameras failing at a wedding. I got 'em working, and now I take at least three cameras to a wedding, soon to be four.

Just got these on Ebay. From Accstation.com's Ebay store.
Anyone ever order batteries from them? Anyone ever put these into your cameras? I was fast to buy them, but now I'm kinda scared to put em in my 40D.

I hope those were taken with your camera phone. Either they're seriously misshapen and won't fit or you've got some awesome barrel distortion there.

Have you ever used that particular vendor before? Do you trust them otherwise?

No, this is why i brought it to the community. The purchase was made with a little bit to much impulse and not enough background checking.

Yeah so these "BP-511's" are doing amazing. I just shot alot for about 5 hours and there is no indication of low battery. (knock on wood)

The other thing i realized is they are a lighter than the Canon 511 and 511-A's.

4 Sterlingtek's coming from Amazon for my 40D with battery grip. Haven't heard any negative things directly.

I've always personally used the Impact brand, BP-511A batteries for my cameras (Total of approx 20 batteries stretched across 3-30D's & a 40D later & still no problems). I believe they're the most expensive of the "off-brand" names but I imagine there is a reason for that.

Thanks for the input. :)
For those of us that aren't familiar with them, can you tell us where you buy them, and what should we expect to pay?
Thanks.

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Sorry. B&H Photo has 3 different types of BP-511/BP-511A style batteries in stock. The name brand Canon's for $49.95 each, the Impact brand that I use for $24.95 each & a brand named "CTA" for $34.95 each (all USD). The link to buy them from B&H is: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ium_Ion_Battery_7_4V.html (external link) or just type "BP-511" in the search box on their website to see the different options (along with chargers that fit that specific style).
I don't ever recall seeing the Impact brand batteries anywhere else so I can't say how good their pricing is but for most of the stuff I buy, most of the time, B&H has the best price (or at least the best overall price when you consider their stellar customer service IMHO). If it matters to anyone, the shell/casing is a little more brownish when compared to the gray Canon brand batteries.
