How to Create This Lighting Effect...

I'm a novice photographer and I need help setting up a photo shoot for my ecommerce website. How do I create the lighting effect used in the photos below? What equipment will I need? I don't have any photo equipment at all but I know I'll need to buy some!

It looks like a single diffuse light source at camera left; maybe a diffused flash, but more likely a strobe bounced from an umbrella. The lighting looks a little hard for a softbox.

Thank you for your reply. A soft box? If a soft box was used, it would have to be a very big one, right? Or I guess it depends on how big those items are in the picture... ? Particularly the white counter?

A softbox is a large diffuser that fits over a strobe and casts a very soft light. The shadows present suggest to me a more point-like source, but with some softening.
