How do I create the lighting effect used in the photos below? What equipment will I need? I don't have any photo equipment at all but I know I'll need to buy some!

The lighting looks a little hard for a softbox.

Thank you for your reply. A soft box? If a soft box was used, it would have to be a very big one, right? Or I guess it depends on how big those items are in the picture... ? Particularly the white counter?
