Does anyone know how much latitude digital sensors have? I think back in the film days it was around 10?

How much latitude does the human eye have in general?

Thanks,

Kkamin

Digital sensors typically have about 10-11 stops. Negative film has about 15.

The human eye has about 5 stops IIRC. Although the entire contrast range is huge, it can only discern 5 stops in a scene at any one time.

What it can do however is adjust fairly quickly from one end of the contrast range to the other.
