I currently want to host my own website to showcase some of my photos. I have no knowledge of html coding but have managed to build somewhat of a website.

It consists of menus located at the top, a samples of pictures on the leftside in flash and some text on the rightside of the pictures and at the bottom. This was done using the FireFox browser.

What I don't understand is when I view it on different computers and with different browsers it all looks different.

Here are some screenshots (there will be some blank spots in the text so disregard).

Firefox laptop (the way I want it to look like)

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

IE8 laptop (fonts are bigger)
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

Firefox desktop (page is scrollable which I don't want and fonts are bigger/different)
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

IE6 (scrollable and font is different/bigger)
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

Are there any programs out there that can do what I want but isn't overly complex? Or are there any other suggestions?

TIA

I'm sure its an easy fix, but I can't view your website. Make sure IE8 has the same 'Text Size' as FF....View>Text Size.

I have done a little bit of web work. I always check my work with four browsers. Firefox, IE8, Google Chrome and Apple's Safari. I have found that you will see a lot of small differences with them all. Especially with IE8.

I know flash is used with a lot photography sites. When I see a flash site, I usually leave right away without even looking through it. This is more true if I am there to spend money, or research potential businesses. I have seen very few flash sites that are easily navigated. If your are gonna use it for a professional site, absolutely leave flash alone.

Just my two cents....
Good luck and have fun….

Drupal and Joomla have some great options available. They might be worth looking into.
