Well, i'm almost ashamed to post this, after all that brilliant work that's gone before, but...it is street photography...

Thanks, dude. I'm sure a Chicago-ite would gawk at snow, but if it sticks like this, it's a big deal here. My Facebook was flooding w/ Instagram photos all day. :)

I like that shot as well, mainly b/c I also remember the state of the bicycle (no hand grips, to match the no gloves), and of course no helmet, as this is Japan. He stayed on that huge road in those awful conditions.

This one from the set is by far my most popular on Flickr, ever. It got posted to someone's blog, and I guess went viral. 1300 views, 191 likes, 26 comments, and counting. I think my most popular before that was 25 likes. I guess it's more aesthetically pleasing, but the story it tells me is of relief. The previous one is of displeasure. I also was in ankle-deep water a few moments before I took it though. :|

Same intersection, btw.

We haven't had any so far this year. Bikes become a rarity around here when it does snow except of course the bike messengers.

In fact parts or Alabama got more snow today than we've had all winter total.

STIC - that's classic. Excellent caption, too.

airfrog: my girl just went back to Chicago to give her child a white Xmas. I think you know how that turned out. Freezing balls she said though. Great shot, btw. Do you have to do any lens correction or cropping on those? I find such symmetry to be rather challenging at 35mm. Very frustrating lately, to be honest. I'm not the steadiest shot.

people like romatic stuff i guess

Yep, the poor suckers. :D

Thanks,
I do some perspective correction in CS4 to get some of the lines straight when shooting something like this. I can tell you that the 35 lux is amazing especially compared to the 35L.

Hope that they had a safe trip. Are the back with you now?

I too really like the guy on the bike. Just a killer image. The body language and the hand say it all.

I thought the caption was warranted...;)

^^ Still laughing at it.

I can tell you that the 35 lux is amazing especially compared to the 35L.

Yeah, I've read distortion on it is great. I'm using the Zeiss *T 2/35. I've not really checked for distortion, but should. I'm now on the fence for an RX1 though, so not sure if this will stay with me or not.

Hope that they had a safe trip. Are the back with you now?

Yep, safe and sound, ironically, in the snow here. It's slowly melting... the streets are okay but my jog in the park yesterday: not so much.

A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.
Never limit yourself with what others think you should do. Shoot what you find interesting, exactly the way you want to.
