I find this work interesting in the fact that these gadgets show up in a lot of your work and this is one thing that separates the work on the streets today from that of the 40s and 50s. I see a body of work that deals with technology and the role it plays on out interaction with each other in public spaces.

Thanks. Believe it or not, I try to avoid just shooting people on their phone if possible, but if someone is posing, I go for it. Honestly, it's really hard to find someone "just sitting" there these days. I was actually thinking exactly what you said last night... well, close enough. Basically that technology has changed urban photography a LOT. There are still some interesting people to shoot, even though they're looking down. Japan has a breed of female that no matter how hard they try, never quite grow out of their chicken-legs, which makes for some interesting posing while standing around smoking or messing w/ the phone. Walking.. not quite so pretty.

Maybe other cities aren't so bad, but from experience, the commuting by train culture here has always meant you carry around some form of entertainment. In the late 90's it was comic books. Now, it's the smart phone.
