Thank you! That means a lot as I'm obsessed with composition but used to steer clear of street photography because I found it too difficult to see interesting arrangements among the chaos. I'm fairly new to this genre of photography but Hong Kong offers up some spectacular subjects and street scenes. Fan Ho's work has been a massive influence on me.

I also remember Allen (airfrogusmc) giving me a good bollocking a few years ago about having "telephoto-vision" but lately I've been carrying an x100t everywhere, which has helped cure that particular ailment.

@Airfrog (or anyone else, really): do you get those deep blacks - especially in the sky, when you include it - in camera with a red filter, or is there some post-processing involved? For some reason my images tend to smear and get filled with artifacts when I pull blue skies to black in post and I'm wondering how I can get around this without painting in a gradient (which may or may not work depending on the amount of clutter).

I shoot with a Leica MM. You probably know that it is a dedicated B&W camera. No color so it is similar to shooting B&W film. So this was shot with a red filter. Files from the MM have an amazing DR so they are usually a little flat out of camera. With a little contrast and density adjustments they can really sing. I think pulling down the blue channel when converting from color(camera raw) might have a similar effect but yes you can get some funky artifacts when doing that. The artifacts were just one reason for a B&W shooter like me to invest in the MM.

Here's a couple more examples of images I think I would have probably gotten some kind of artifact problems if I tried to convert and to get this look. Both shot with red filter.

I just sent my 35 Lux FLE into Leica for a tightening, front is just a bit loose, Picked up a Zeiss 35 C Biogon 2.8 ZM to hold me over until the Lux comes back. Here are a few I shot with it. One thing I do notice is how spoiled I got with the build on the build on the lux. It is quite a bit better. The Zeiss though looks so far to be a good performer and it is a lot smaller than the Lux. Here are a few from today.
