Kenny,

I like the image but feel you could make it a little better by post-processing it a bit more.

Straighten the horizon, use the line of the water - crop the image as the horizon is very central - clone out the bird and that can, if you haven't cropped it out.

Add some saturation to bring out the orange/yellow and perhaps use the middle slider of the Levels to darken the clouds...

Hope you don't mind - here's what I did.

Regards

David

I DO mind actually. The bird and the bouy were an integral part of why I chose THAT particular picture.

And I really don't like what you did in changing the levels and colors.

Please read the forum rules about manipulating others pics.

P.S. Thank you for your suggestions.

David I understand, no offense taken, and I do appreciate your suggestions. I think we just have a different "artistic" view. For example, while I like this pic or yours:
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=77489
I feel like it looks a bit "fake" colorwise. I don't know if you processed it in the same manner as you did above with mine, but, to my eye, it appears processed which for me distracts from the image. In that particular pic I also felt there was too much sky/cloud but still it works for me.

In the above image I wanted to emphasize the subtle mountains in the background and provide contrast with the bright buoy in the foreground. The bird was somewhat irrelevant, but I thought added to the relatively static nature of the image. Certainly this is a pretty much unprocessed image and could be helped by altering the horizon to level it and perhaps some emphasis (as you did). I DO appreciate your attention, comments, and suggestions. Thanks.

Best Wishes,
KAC

Here's a slightly processed version that corrects the horizon and does a bit of level manipulation to provide a bit more contrast. I still don't like the bright white "hole" in the clouds in the upper right and may manipulate that, but it also provides balance for the buoy.....

I think I agree with MeerKat. I'm not seeing what the wake marker adds to the shot. (IMO the entire "lake" should be no wake!) I think I'd zap the bird in PS... hard to tell it's a bird anyway ;) Did you punch up the blue a bit? I like how you adjusted the horizon.

et, thanks for your comments. Yeah I wish the bird had been more distinguishable. I adjusted the levels a bit, not blue specifically though.

Hey Meerkat, I love the tip about dog treats and the camera bag! :) I'm gonna do that.
