Dec 16, 2009 07:36 | #5 Here' one more. To get this effect I used a PS plug-in called Topaz Adjust. It does all the work for you. These pictures only took a few seconds (not even minutes) to make. Great little plug-in and inexpensive. Down load a free trial to see if you like. Tools: Canon 5DmkII, Sony a6400, Fujifilm X100V

It looks like the plug-in is definitely using some sorta of unsharp mask on the highest detail parts of the image. It looks like it also makes a duplicate layout that is greyscaled and then set to find edges/sketch and then multiplied overtop the other image.... at least for the "textures." I'd have to see the original images before I could guess how to build to outside of that. - Canon EOS 40d + EF 50mm f1.8 II + EF 85mm f1.8 USM (and soon to have tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC)
