Manfrotto 055CX Series Owners - A quick question...

Hi All,

I was just wondering how many folks out there with Carbon Fibre 055 series legs have noticed marking to the carbon fibre tubes, toward the inside of the legs near the base of the first (largest) leg section.

From what I've seen, if the tripod gets a heavy knock when in the 'closed-up' position illustrated below, there is the possibility for the legs to strike the base of the centre-column, causing scuffs in the tubing (circles mark the approximate location of scuffs (but on the 'inside' of the legs)).

I'm just curious if this is a widespead issue, or if I need a more careful courier. The first 055CXPRO3 I took delivery of must've had an awful journey; I returned it for exchange, and while it's arrived in a lot better condition than the first, the replacement still has some scuffs to the inside of the legs.

I'd be eternally grateful if owners of similar pods would advise...

Thanks and regards,

Rob.

I realize it's an old thread but I didn't want to create another thread that addresses the same question.

I was looking for just the thread and I have the same issue with my tripod. I ordered a brand new one from B&H and it har what looked like a burn mark on one of thelegs and it was on the outside. So, I contacted B&H and had them replace it. The process takes about 2 weeks to get a replacement which really bites. So, I got my replacement tripod today and upon opening it I noticed the 3 marks inside the legs where the base of the vertical column meets the three legs.

I am glad I am not the only person having this issue and Manfrotto needs to address this. B&H will try to credit you only $25 but to me that's not enough. Either they send me a flawless tripod or I am going to cough up more money for a Gitzo.

Please let me know what you find out about this issue and I will do the same.
