My son has a Christmas play tonight and I was wondering what would be the best setting for shooting 1080P video? I was thinking of using either the 24mm F/1.4L or 50mm F/1.4 lens, which one do you think would perform better indoors?

I'm in CA and his play is at 6:30pm so any quick help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Al

How far will you be sitting from the play?
I have shot a lot of bluegrass shows with the 50mm f/1.4 and it does excellent in low light but on a 1.6crop body it is like a 80mm lens. That maybe too close if you are close to the stage.
Could you take both lenses and do some testing before hand?

I afraid that I will not be able to go there before the play, so I will take both lenses.

Which live view worked best for you? :-) Live Mode, Live Mode or Quick Mode?

1. 24mm, set to photo mode
2. in P mode, focus on a subject on the stage
3. turn the camera to full auto, green box
4. switch to video mode
5. hit the record button

Make sure you have enough storage. It will burn through 8 gigs in a hurry.

I'm no expert.. but that's how I got by on my vacation.
