Decided to keep the flash on the camera for this meet. Still trying to figure out exactly how I want to shoot swimming. I liked the results this produced over putting the flash up on a stand. The pool is horribly lit. Has a few lights out as well.

All where shot with a 70-200mm 2.8 at 200mm. ISO 800 1/250 at f2.8

What do you think?

These are some of the better flashed swim shots we've seen on here. Well done.

Well done! Did you do ETTL with your 430ex? I tried shooting with my 70-200 2.8 before I bought a flash. I'm interested in your settings.

I actually never use the ETTL.. I just don't like it. I actually use manual for everything including my camera. I am not 100% sure what my flash setting was, but if I had to guess . . it was zoomed to 105mm at 1/2 power.

Nice work kirtapp. Most of the shots I've seen of swimming with on camera flash really mess up the white balance, making the water look like a swamp. You did a nice job. I'd still crank up the shot speed and ISO a little to freeze hand movement, but you did really well.
