Here are a couple photos of my new smooth collie girl, Jasmine, that I adopted from 'Collie Rescue of the Carolinas' two weeks ago. She is a really sweet, gentle & very smart girl.
We feel very lucky to have found her.

Well done! Both the shots and the rescue! If only everyone would get pets from rescue shelters!

I'm sure she also feels lucky to have found you. Give a welcome home hug for me. (All my puppers were rescues, so I understand the joy you feel)

Thanks, we are really over joyed with her. Her only problem, as far as I am concerned is that she is afraid of stairs (we have 3 sets-LOL), but we are making some, although slow, progress on that.

:) Nice job, Ruth. What a great looking girl! She is a mix, eh? Maybe German Shephard + Collie?

My rescue mini Aussie was scared to death of docks or any walking bridges near water... she'd put on the full brakes, dig in her paws, etc. It took her a few weeks of settling in to her new routine and every day we'd walk closer and closer to the dock without going on it... now, no problem.

I'm not sure how that will work with stairs, but google 'dog desensitization training'

Congrats! And what a beautiful girl. I too have a rescue that had some "issues" but we've worked thru them and she is the most loving, faithful little dog. When it's time for another dog, we will definitely look to rescue!

Thanks for the encouragement. No, she is not a mix. She is a smooth coat collie. She was AKC registered but the owner did not turn over her papers when she was surrendered. Not having her registration papers doesn't matter to me. She is spayed and I have no plans to show her. She is just a part of the family.

I absolutely love smooth coated collies...

Great picture of a lovely dog. Smooth coated collies are often not recognized by people. I think that is because everyone has been aclimated to Collies with the rough coated variety; primarily due to the popularity of Lassie in movies and television.

We rescue Maltese but, I always like to have a big dog in our home. When we lost our big dog (German Shepherd - Golden Retriever - Wolf), we seriously considered a smooth coated collie but, opted for a Goldendoodle instead due to the almost complete lack of shedding.

Have a great life with your lovely friend and congratulations for rescuing...
