Something a bit different, perhaps...

Click here (external link) to open the panorama viewer (flash). Please allow some time for the panorama to load (it is about 3 megabytes in size)

The band is PMMP, one of the most popular bands inside the Finnish borders. I'm currently photographing a tour book of them - closed the publication deal a week ago. I'm writing regularly about the book project in my blog (external link) and Facebook page (external link). Some more spherical panoramas to come...'

The photograph was made after the gig.

... And slowly the Powerbook came to a grinding halt ...

Good to hear about the book.

Hardly possible to view the pano on my laptop, so I'll have to reserve comment, but I am curious how you did the pano of moving subjects.

Hmm, I think I can view these on my Asus EEEPC 901. Somewhat jerky but no grinding halts. Maybe the implementation of Flash for Apple has some wrinkles then...

Well, it was photographed with a 8mm fisheye, so each part of the pano encompasses a lot of things, and there are only four seams to worry about (three would be the minimum, but I've found that the extra overlap four shots provide makes things easier). I can then open the panorama in photoshop as layers and mask the seams appropriately if necessary.

Excellent, and rather unique, presentation, Kalle. I'm always impressed on how you think outside of everyone else's box.

I used a monopod + panorama head with a bubble leverel, tripod would have been too awkward in the small spaces.

I used photoshop to patch the monopod/panorama head. The tricky part was to not be seen in the mirrors - there was exactly one spot in the room where I could do that with certainty (and I wasn't on that spot, but luckily the guitar player was between me and the mirror).
