Any fans of "Deadliest Catch" here? Discovery just announced that Captain Phil died.

I heard he had a stroke, but hadn't heard of his passing. Sad.

He was not healthy at all.

Take a picture, it lasts longer (external link)

I saw that. I do watch the show from time to time. There was a show this last season where someone was having really strong chest pains. Can't remember exactly who it was though.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

"Puddle in Trouble" shots.

Hi Julian!

Ahh, yes that makes sense that you'd create an acronym for that since it obviously happens a lot ;)

So pictures of me would be KIT shots? lol

I attended what was a glorified sales demo today for a company that supplies specialized fire protection systems. We saw live fire demos of the system putting out a fire in a simulated hotel room and then a fire officer putting out a fuel fire with water. The system uses a 0.025mm water mist @ over 2000 psi and ends up using something like 10-30% of a normal deluge system - about 35l/min. We fit these system to our large power transformers, hence our interest.

No.1 How not to use the Water Mist lance, too close and created a fireball. This was HOT! The fire was a 1/2 44gal drum full of kero.

No.2 Further away puts the fire out in less than a minute.

I'm amazed at how small the hose is. doesn't seem like you'd get enough water for a serious blaze.

I never watched Deadliest but I did see on my local news site that the Cap'n had passed. Will the show go on?

Lots of other captains and someone will have to drive the boat. :) I'm sure they'll make a special tribute show and then move on.

It's their Santa Ana store on Bristol Street. It's just a few blocks north of South Coast Plaza.

Yep, that's the one. We went in there once looking for something, but I don't remember what. I did come out with a strap for my Bushhawk...

Never watched it.

We used to, but not in the last couple of years. I did find this video of Captain Phil...

The Navy has been using high pressure and low pressure fog firefighting systems for decades. High pressure fog is used like shown above and low pressure fog is used to actually cool the firefighters themselves while they're fighting the fire.

I don't think so. How about B&W shots today? We don't have to...just trying to think of something we haven't done.
