Be back later guys, heading home to check on some baby bluebirds that don't look so good. 3 seem to have made it out, but the other 2 look pretty bad.

Some of us... As I rise from a dead sleep and awake to an 18% grey day here in the valley.

BUM! ;) Just kidding! I really COULD have slept all day! I'm just over the mountain in NC and the fog of morning has burned off to a beautiful day!

Thanks Dan. :)

Good morning everyone! Anybody for beer and breakfast anyone? :) It seems the be a big thing over here in N.C.

I'm not a beer drinker... but I just spent my weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway... Where beer is consumed 24 hours a day! hehehehe

Yep, that's about how my "night" went -- I lost track of what time I went to sleep, but it was four-ish when I woke up and wasn't able to get back to sleep. Of course my four-ish is your six-ish so you were all up and about...

Any time access is NICE! No one I know has a pool, so I got a membership to the neighborhood private pool. We will use it well this summer! I only work half days on Fridays for the summer so I will go get the boys and head to the POOL! WOOT!

Wow, I've always thought it would be cool to get close enough to a twister to get shots!

In fact, just two or three years ago we had a twister go through town here, right through a business center. I was stuck a ways out of town when I heard about it and wished I had been closer. Just close enough to get some shots...

Back in Newcastle (where we never got tornados), I was upstairs as a wee kid and parents were outside gardening...all of a sudden doors started slamming, so I looked out the window and asked why someone slammed the doors shut...parents said "we didn't"....so like any curious kid, went downstairs and there was nobody there, so went out to my parents who were now talking with a neighbour. You only had to look up and there was a really dark cloud above us, with a very light grey circle of whispy cloud at the top of it right over us circling fast (for a cloud at least)...it touched down about 3 miles north of us and did minor damage, but i can still see the clouds above my head when I think back about it - pressure difference made the doors slam shut as the windows were open...

Now that sounds like fun! My wife has Fridays off so she will probably take the kids some during the summer and I'm sure we'll head over on weekends.

Don't remind me...

Had to take the Mrs to the airport at Oh Sh*t Thirty.

I was awake at '0-Dark-Thirty this morning myself. I was able to get back to bed after Heather went to work...

Heh! The way my nights and days have been going, it sounds like you and I have similar schedules:)!

My daughter alerted me to an interesting event here in town yesterday, so we packed our camera gear and headed out into a light rain...

It was a group that has gotten attention in the country by spreading a message of hate at funerals and such -- don't want to go into particulars because of the religios and political aspect of things, but it was interesting, because seven of them were staging the "event" and there were probably 200 or more locals on the "other side" (literally, kept by sheriffs on the other side of the street), including a lot of high school kids (they were targeting this high school) and a good time was being had by all on the "local" side of the street:).

Anyway, we got about 250 photos from the event. I haven't waded into them but due to the sensitive subject matter (some of the signs across the street were, well, pretty ugly) I probably will just post some on PBase but not here. But, it was an interesting occasion, quite a different "spirit" from the Memorial Day ceremony I was at on Monday...

THIS (external link) group was formed as a result of the people you mention above...
