We use to have aluminum nails that were used for that purpose, but somewhere read that the aluminum is not healthy for you. A while back I picked up some 6" copper nails and they seem to work just as well. I don't know if the copper is any healthier, but they do come out looking less oxidized. The aluminum ones would have sort of a black coating on them, the copper ones come out shiney. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
