Hi Greg! Nice shot! Is this photo shot with the new gear you bought?

Thanks, yes, the new bracket and diffuser. Decided I'm going to sort of go back to basics again and work a single diffused light source.

Stunning Greg. I never cease to be amazed at the things talented macro shooters bring forth.

In other news...

Sit back for 12 minutes and be amazed by THIS (external link) video.

The entire thing (and I mean all of it) is CGI. Best work I've ever seen.
Full Screen and HD reccomended...

Thanks, now off to watch that video.

Dood! The whole thing was amazing! When I saw the IR forest, I was totally blown away! How do these guys render that cinematic look to it? It truly is inspiring. :)

That's pretty crazy.

Now I'm wondering whether or not the entire production company open is CGI as well...

Copper pots and pans are some of the most expensive and highly preferred cookware available.

I had one large copper sauce pan, never used it, and sold it at the last garage sale.

And everyone knows that great pots and pans make a great meal!

I keep buying pots and pans in hopes that's true.

QFT...

We used Sirloin and it was fabulous.

Le Crucet "Dutch Oven" FTW!

I have several Le Crucet pieces, and I love them. BTW, we have a Le Crucet outlet store about a half hour from here in Cabazon. I've bought a lot of it there, usually 20-30% below Williams-Sonoma prices.

Feeling very old today. This is Elvis' 75th birthday. *sigh*

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I'd be better off smoking the pot.

Wow!! I just learned something.

My favorites are the Dutch Ovens. You can go from the stove to the oven, then the fridge, and back to the oven or stove again. That's really helpful for things like chili, stew, etc..

Hey all, good whatever-part-of-the-day it is to you!

Jay, that video you put up, wow. I'm always amazed by state-of-the-art CGI, when I really can't tell "Is it real, or is it Memorex?". I will say, though, that I also found myself appreciating the abilities of "old-fashioned" still photography when you see a shot that gives you that "Wow" reaction without CGI/Photoshopped effects. There are numerous photogs on this site who consistently make me react this way, who have that "eye".

I had a scare this morning and a heads-up -- my desktop workstation (XP Pro) started seriously misbehaving. There are a few factors at play -- I had started using a new 1.5 TB external hard drive that seems to be causing some problems at boot-up and I "upgraded" some anti-virus software that didn't seem to play nice with me unplugging the hard drive, blah blah, but the upshot was that things got pretty hosed. After multiple reboots I ended up going into Safe Mode and doing a System Restore to a few days ago and, after another false start I still had to go into "Last Known Good Configuration" but it is now running.

OK, scary and bad 'cause right now I can't afford to replace my $2k workstation (not that I wouldn't love to). But I will need to for sure get all my backup stuff in order. I'll use the new drive as a dedicated full backup drive and then leave it unplugged until I do my next backup, I guess. Then keep my fingers crossed that my beast will survive for a few months.
