Possibly a really dumb question, but did you by chance frame out a shot with the sun directly behind a piece of the ice where the ice was illuminated?

I'll have to check. That would be a good perspective. I was in rush mode due to frostbite setting in(-18F), and the fact that I had dropped my camera when I was setting up!!! Not the best of outings. Thankfully no damage to body or lense. Terry
