The fall foliage in Colorado has been VERY bizarre this year. Color has been spotty at best; many areas the trees have been 50% changed, 25% done and dropped already and 25% brilliant gold. Kebler Pass is notorious for having spectacular color; the color all around Crested Butte was much like what is seen in this image...

With the fall color reports this year and it has been very odd and spotty thus far. Was interested in doing the alpine loop this year in northern Utah, but as you said, some areas are up to 50% change already and snow has hit Lake Tahoe and other areas early this year. I'm still looking to get out there and catch something this fall.
