Does anyone have experience with the Photoflex X-large 72" softbox? It seems to be the best priced large softbox available. Does the great price come at the expense of build quality, or is it just a great deal?

Also, does white interior reflect less efficiently than silver? Hence, is the light less directional with a correspondingly greater angle of light spread?

It seems like a really great softbox but with surprisingly very little feedback. Appreciate any input

Thank in advance

I see one in B/S forum for $145. Ask that guy, he usually shoots senior pictures.

4x8 is going to be big, like those foamcore panels.

The build quality of the Photoflex is excellent.

Yes, silver reflects more efficiently than white interiors and will give a more specular light.

Fewer people here have 72" softboxes than smaller boxes because of space considerations in the typical home studio. Unless you are lighting groups or doing full body work a box this size used for headshots for example will create monster catchlights that don't look very good.

full head shots is one use. I also need it for location work including building portraits with simulated windows in the frame. A big box from a long distance will appear like a small window. I also need it for interior photography where fitting my big 69" octa is difficult sometimes. Having a narrower light source would make interior photography easier.

I hear you, those rods must be really hard to bend and fit into the fabric. When disassembled and fitted in it own bag how long is the whole thing? Is it hard to fit it in another general bag?

I have that exact softbox. I use it mainly for full body shots. The build quality is excellent, and it has served me well for over a year now. It is showing no signs of wear, and I don't remember it being all that hard to set up.
