beautiful carvings Ray. I love church carvings. They are often very detailed and well done, like this.
The mosaic inscription is also very well done. What a futile lot of campaigns. Best not go there though Ray else we'll start one against US :p

Thanks Richard. I am always impressed by the craftsmanship in some of these carvings - It annoys me when entering any church or cathedral to find the 200-300 year old Pews have been ripped out to make way for lines of cheap chairs. Do the church councils have no idea of the history they are getting rid of with the excuse of being trendy or modernising?
The campaigns were fought by brave men and the memorials to them a tribute to their bravery so that we will remember them - but a futile waste of life.

Another view of the Cathedral and war memorial.

interesting history
Had some wear and tear over the years.

Good to see it being preserved

It was made a National Monument in 1908.
An interesting place to visit.
The Apaches didn't think much of the place or its residents.

so much beauty and history. I pray they survive centuries to come as we may never see this architecture built again...

St Mary's Church. Westerham. Kent. UK.

I had a bit of a problem with perspective on these pictures. I could not get far enough back and had to resort to the 10-22mm W/A. If the tower seems out of proportion to the image - that is because it physically is! And it is the first impression I got when I walked through the gate.
Please feel free to comment.:-)
