They did that here Ray
Convict built church I visited had well gated pews.
Times were tough back then :-P

In a lot of the places I used to take the communion wine ‘so to speak’ they had glass prayer books with handles :lol:
Edit:- And we used to sing with great gusto and always left with a smile on our face.

St. Lawernce whitchurch, Stanmore, NW London.

Origionaly part of the now gone Chandos estate. Handle would have played there when his patron was the Duke of Chandos. The Italian decoration and box pews are the original Georgian.

Of course it's real claim to fame is my wife and I were married there. :mrgreen:
