Would you trade this for a 5D MarkII?

I never thought I would start a thread like this, but here goes.

A friend of mine has offered me a brand new Canon 5d MKII for 2100.00

I don't have the money unless I sell everything I've got:

40D and grip
580EXII
17-55 2.8 IS
Cybersynch Transmitter and 2 Receivers

Is the 5D MKII good enough in low light that I can get away without using a flash. I don't use it that often now anyway and with the higher ISO performane I thought that maybe I could. And I want to learn off camera flash but as or yet the off camera stuff is just sitting in boxes. I know I will be missing the wide end but maybe I could pick up a 50 1.4 in a few months.

What would you do?

I would. Is that 2,100 Dollars or pounds?

The question is do you want to go FF? Is the 5DII boxed or as it been used?

so you'd have the 5Dii and JUST a 70-200? For me no way. But I'd buy it from him at that price and resell it for the $2250~$2500 it's worth used. ;)

Sell everything but keep the flash. You can scrounge up 100 bucks for the 50 1.8.

2100 Dollars brand new in the box - not gray market. He works in the business. Yes, I very much want to go to full frame.

What do you like to shoot? If you won't miss the wide end it seems like a good deal, but I agree with Plasticmotif, it would be nice to keep the flash if you can.

Sounds to me like its a good idea considering what you shoot...besides, if you're thinking of going up to ff, you'll have to get rid of the 17-55 anyway. I say do it and then save up for a flash & wide lens over time...

I would probably be inclined to sell the 1.4X tele-extender before the flash, but I use my flash much more than I use my 1.4X.

if you do the deal, you might need to rent some fast primes if you know you're shooting low light that day
