it provides the support for the RAW format for the mentioned cameras to the OS , this then allows the apps to use the RAW files

Just more driver updates for the Apple OS. Apple's update periodically like Windows and one of the updates was a RAW update.

too bad there seems to be some color inaccuracies... i noticed this initially, but thought it may have been my improper white balance or something, but seems like other people are experiencing the same thing.
