So, I download and install the LR 2.6 upgrade today and while the upgrade seemed to go smooth, when I open LR all I get is grey boxes. All EXIF and metadata is intact and previous develop settings show. I just got no frickin' photos.

Already tried a re-install, a repair and import of my last backup (made just before the upgrade) and nothing seems to work.

I'm glad I'm not on a deadline.

Sorry to hear that... hope you get it worked out.

I don't plan to upgrade to 2.6. It appears it is only adding camera support (and I don't use any of those cameras.) No mention of any bug fixes/new features whatsoever in reading release notes.

(Can you rebuild your previews? Does LR need to rebuild previews because of new camera profiles? What happens when double-clicking a grey box?)

I am currently trying to rebuild 1:1 previews, so this may take awhile. Double clicking on the grey box just gives me a bigger grey box.

Out of sheer curiosity did you report this to Adobe and did they have anything to say for themselves. I have always found them to be pretty responsive on anything that I have reported via their support site. I've never reported on Lightroom only Photoshop but I think the support teams would have the same sort of approach to handling problems.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I have just posted this on the Adobe forums and awaiting an answer. Something is not right. I noticed just now that the histogram is empty as well.

I only upgraded because there are a couple of bug fixes for OSX 10.6.2. Thankfully all seems well on my iMac. I agree that there seems to be no benefit for PC users unless you have the 7d. I guess this is a quick update for 7D Raw as Adobe will be concentrating on version 3.

The forum I posted in was the one linked to the Adobe support page. I'm on the phone waiting to speak to someone now.

FYI, 32 bit Windows Vista.

Clarify? When I refer to Adobe Forums I refer to forums.adobe.com -- part of the adobe domain. Are you talking aout this forum or another one?

After over 1 hour waiting on the phone for Adobe support to pick up my call. I hung up, uninstalled 2.6, reinstalled 2.5 (I save all install files all the time) and everything is working again. Funny how a potential client e-mail makes you do what you have to do...quickly!

I will follow up with Adobe sometime in the future with a bug report because it was out of the norm.

From here: http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa (external link)

(Emphasis mine)

Adobe Forums
Adobe Forums provide an interactive online environment for vibrant discussion of Adobe products and related topics, where Adobe users exchange questions, offer ideas and suggestions, and share tips and tricks.

As far as I know, most of it is "user to user". There are some Adobe employees there, but few and (again, AFAIK) unofficially.

I hardly visit there since the "new" forum (2 years or so?) since it sucks big time: Very slow and unstable.
