17-40mm L....like for real

So I picked up my 17-40mm yesterday, and been at it shooting away today, and honestly,honestly in my personal opinion.

I am a little disappointed, not too entirely,but enough to say my Tammy 17-35 is a lot sharper than my new little L am I going to keep it, yes until I get that juicy 16-35 L

but was I expecting a bit better, most def.

What's your thoughts on that ?

I believe there was a thread earlier comparing the Tammy to the 17-40L and they're quite the same.....Still love my 17-40 though.

Sharper in what conditions? My choice was mostly made for me, as I needed the weather sealing... something which none of the third party manufacturers have done yet.
