I love photography as a hobby and was wondering if anyone here is in law enforcement or a related field where you do crime scene photography?

I just picked up a text book, "Crime Scene Photography" by Edward M. Robinson to start reading on this specific topic of photography. Looking for anyone else with experience or tips.

I used to work with prosecutor and sometimes would copy crime photos CDs to give to the defense attorneys. I would sometimes peek at the photos. I rarely get murder cases but some of them are just sad.

I worked for a coroner for several months (contract programming). One thing I learned: never open the envelope and look at the pictures! They are not glamor shots!

You are correct, it is twice as worse on scene when you get the smells too. I really want to improve in this area of photography though, I believe that many people that do crime scene photography just point and shoot with no technique.

Yea, I spend 8 years as a police photographer. This was back when we had a wet darkroom. Looking back I can promise you there was no enjoyment from it. And remember your court appearances were also required. My best tip, stay away from it.
