The first time we came across a decent downhill with a turn at the end, I was concerned she would not be able to handle the turn and end up in a tree. ![]() I consider myself quite coordinated, and yet have landed upon many a tree. A couple really, really, really hurt. -JIM-

I have always enjoyed the south and had a fascination with it's history and culture. Have fun, happy birthday to your pops. Here is a great link with lots of pictures and music as well as some interesting speaking. Neat family Jenn. Bascom Lamar Lunsford Minstrel of Appalachia Festival It says Bascom collected over 3000 hand written ballads and songs from those hills. Good stuff. I used to have XM radio and Ch.14 the bluegrass station was my staple. A collection of his works was recorded by the Smithsonian... I believe its part of a series called LifeWays... or something like that... and some of his stuff is at the Library of Congress. Mars Hill College has a HUGE selection of stuff of his as well. It's really cool stuff... gjl711 wrote in post #9360063 There is absolutely no way to be sad listening to that type of music. No no there is not! puddlepirate44 wrote in post #9360261 That's incredible, Jenn. As someone who loves history, this is a piece of Americana that has connections to the very heart of this country. It's also, unfortunately, a bit of culture that is slowly fading away. You should be very proud of your roots. Bluegrass and Gospel both have immense influence on any aspect of American music; whether it be rock, country or jazz. If you listen to any music radio station, and you are familiar with bluegrass/gospel, you can hear the genetic strains. Love that stuff. I love sharing this part of my family, it's definitely something I'm proud of! BearLeeAlive wrote in post #9360272 Loving all the bluegrass links. I have always been a fan. When I was in my late teens and early twenties, it was really big around here. During the summer there was usually a bluegrass festival somewhere near, what great fun they were. People of all ages getting together, having a great time. ![]() Loads of Bluegrass festivals around here... and then the festival my uncle started he Mountain Folk and Dance festival... my favorite part though is the jam sessions. A bunch of folks of every age sittin around playin music... It's awesome. Woolburr wrote in post #9360586 I'm calling BS on this one....little miss I'm not eating leftovers...those are just nasty. ![]() I will eat left over lasagna! That's about the ONLY leftovers I will eat!!!! cfpackerfan wrote in post #9360602 Ok, this is Suki. She is an owner release. She is only 10 months old, and spends 10+ hours a day and all night in a crate that was too small for her to stand up in. Her back legs are kind of deformed, and she has absolutely no muscle in them at all. When the lady brought her to us today (we had met Suki last week, and it was arranged for her to bring her to us today), Suki was actually spinning in circles on the end of the leash. I asked if she'd had a chance to run yet today, or if she'd been on a walk, and the lady was like.. "Um.. no." We ended up taking her to the dog park and running her for about an hour just so we could keep her at the adoption event. Anyway.. she's got bad history: she has a nasty scar on her back leg from the guy 'teaching her a lesson' and swerving to knock her out of the back of the truck. These people bred an English Bulldog and a Doberman, then 2 of those pups had a litter. Suki is one of those pups. Her parents are siblings. Stupid freaking irresponsible people. Anyway, she is VERY sweet, but has spent her entire life on a leash or in a crate. (or being thrown out of the back of a truck) This ladies husband was going to shoot Suki, so we took her. She gets SO excited when you pet her, and she is absolutely LOVING the back yard. She won't step over anything, so the dog door is an obstacle for her. I don't know if you can tell from these photos how funky her back legs are. She may be a hard one to get adopted. But I firmly believe that with a little rehabilitation and some love that she has potential. She has a great heart and a wonderful personality. Awwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Becky N wrote in post #9361419 Bax is living a cat's life and used up two today. The shop steps have an open side, he decided to jump down from about 5 feet up and cracked his jaw on the cement floor. Not literally cracked, but whacked it pretty good. Then once up in the loft area he didn't come back when told, he was steping off the floor onto the insulation under the peak, no ceiling, fell through and luckily was in the spot over the old couch we moved in. He had quite the "What the...." look on his face, but again, not hurt. Needless to say the loft area is now off limits to him.
cfpackerfan wrote in post #9361558 (doesn't that face just grab your heart?) Yes! Skrim17 wrote in post #9361703 Sometimes they get a lot of fly bites around their ears, if it isn't mange and she has been in a crate that much and there were flies around she wouldn't have much home of getting them to leave her alone. I LOVE the name Luigi for that gorgeous Puggle!! I was also thinking since there was so much crate time... could it be from shaking her head and banging up her ears on the crate? JWright wrote in post #9362326 There used to be a huge folk music festival that ran for a week at San Diego State University when I worked there. I was tasked with handling all the parking arrangements for the performers one year and got exposed to all varieties of folk music. I had always liked it but the festival just cemented my interest. That's the best place to be at times... Jam sessions where all the performers are located... NICE! cfpackerfan wrote in post #9362337 Ok, so we are at our adoption event today, and with everyone within hearing distance, Tevin says to me: "Gosh Mom! What were you and dad doing last night in your bedroom? I couldn't even sleep you were being so loud. It was midnight!" ![]() If you dare to watch... this is what we were doing at midnight last night. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fJmY8YDgso Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha cfpackerfan wrote in post #9362510 Zane, I just told Amikah that you were making jokes about her, um.. thickness. Wall-e has developed a new behavior where she stands on the divider in the kitchen sink and stares out the window. At first we couldn't figure out what she was looking at and the Heather noticed a hummingbird flitting around on the back patio. This morning I discovered the hummer has built a nest on the cord to a motion sensor on the light back there. I looked in the nest and there are no eggs yet but we're going to be watching it closely from now on. That is very cool!!!! Jenn, gone back to novice photographer...
