Hi, so I got a 1D2N yesterday and I noticed the battery quickly died. The owner told me that he charged that battery before giving it to me but today it was already finished.

So I am currently discharging it right now and hopefully it will start to charge. It's taking quite a long time discharging (it's been 3 hours already and it's still in discharge mode). So I am assuming that I might need a replacement for it, now I'm asking, where (I live in France so EU links are welcome) and what kind of brand should I be looking for?

Thanks!

check on B&H, they have a canon and another brand. I have both and I have been happy with the other brand and the battery life. I just ordered another one from them.

Lenmar are the best aftermarket, IMO. Excellent quality in all respects, and fit perfectly in the Mark IIn. About 1/3 the cost of the Canon, too.

Try and make sure it's the battery and not the charger, my 1Dmk2n started telling me my battery was flat after a couple of dozen shots, borrowed a mates charger and got 500+ shots from the same battery. New charger is a large £300 to replace and as far as I know nobody else does a charger so Canon have you by the short and curlies.

Try the Delkin replacement. Great fit, extra capacity (2300 mAh compared to 1800 mAh on the Canon), good 2-year warranty! Should be able to get a genuine Delkin on the big auction site for about $40.

My experience with Delkin support has been good. I got a 3-month old Delkin replaced without a problem because I didn't like the loose latch. And I could never get anyone to tell me what the Lenmar capacity is either, but I think it's the same as the Canon.

Thanks for the suggestions, I might try and get the Lenmars first and if I still have the funds I'll get the Delkin ones.

Newbie question, will batteries coming from the states work with my camera body? Do they all have the same voltages?

No difference. Yes--it should work just fine.

The battery recharge can take up to 10 hours if you complety discharge and then recharge it up(page 21 Manual)... I use lenmars , about $40 bucks through Amazon/Adorama. They are good for 1,000-1,200 shots.....Rich P.S. Do you have a manual? http://gdlp01.c-wss.com …0/01/EOS-1DMKIINIM-EN.pdf (external link)

Thread resurrection. If anyone can offer a side-by-side comparison, which are better, Lenmars or Delkins? I'm talking about number of shots in optimal conditions, sealing, cold weather performance. Also, a few of my NP-E3 knockoffs had an issue where the locking clip (you guys know what I'm talking about) will not stay in the upright position, requiring me to tape them down. Either of these 3rd party batteries have that issue?

I badly need to get some new batteries - went out yesterday, it was maybe 45 degrees outside, and my battery crapped out on me pretty quick, less than 100 shots. I don't want to have to carry those heavy bastards if they're not pulling their weight, so to speak.

Every thread I look at says "they are both good." It seems the comments run 3 to 1 Lenmar over Delkin (as far as praise goes). But when I see someone say "Delkin," and state the Delkins probably have a larger capacity, it makes me wonder.

+1 for Lenmar.

I've fired off over 1000 shots on one of my new Lenmars and the battery indicator still shows full.

Before I had two old Canon batteries that were very short life, a Powersmart that wasn't too bad and 2 no-name items from Hong Kong that were hopeless.

If I left the 5 old batteries for even overnight before using them, some would only give a few shots then die.

The Lenmars were charged over a week ago now, 1000+ actuations and still showing full. No chimping, no IS, in case that's a factor.

I run Delkins and while they definietly do last longer then canon factory...I replaced the end caps with stock ones as they didn't seal up tight enough for my liking.

Lenmar purchased from buy.com for $38 with some cashback. It'll be here eventually, it's coming ground saver. I'll let you guys know my opinion :D

Lenmars are supposedly 1800 mAh, which is the same as the Canon. The Delkin's are 2300 mAh. In my experience, the Delkin's do indeed last longer.
