Recently upgraded to a 5Dmkii.:D

Still coming to grips with it and read on a review site that images are sharper if shot in M or S rather than L.

It was not clear if he was also referring to RAW (Raw, Raw1 and Raw2).

Something to do with BAYER INTERPOLATION is not required with M or S.

Anyway, I'd be very interested to find out what the consensus of opinion is here.

Many thanks in anticipation. :)

That's like defeating the purpose of getting 5DII, isn't it? LOL. I see no difference after using it for close to a year now. So... prolly his (reviewer) eyes were playing on him.

I shoot to RAW for assignments and everything else, more often than not, SRAW1 (9.9MP).

I usually shoot full RAW unless I know I won't be able to upload the images before filling up the card, then I switch to SRAW1. You've paid for the resolution, storage is getting cheaper all the time and you never know when you might get an image you really like and would like the extra pixels for cropping or enlargements.

I didn't know that the T1i can't shoot sRAW.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to a 40D, 50D, or 7D?

I agree with most shoot RAW. My main reason is you are capturing the full resolution of the camera and making any changes to the settings in post production. When software improves in years down the road and you still have that RAW file you can always go back and improve the image. Shooting in any of the JPEG settings, the camera is making some decisions for you and saving the image as a compressed file, so if things improve years down the road you are much more limited to what you can do.

That's misleading. Such claims are usually made wrt viewing at 100%. Scale a 21MP shot down to the smaller size and *then* compare and the results are going to be much closer.

It was not clear if he was also referring to RAW (Raw, Raw1 and Raw2).

If M, S, and L are the size names used, probably not.

My 5D2's metering and AWB are disappointing for a body of it's price, so I shoot raw (still not an acronym) all the time.
