Is this an example of shutter failure?

I've noticed that in some of my photos, half of the image is black and half is properly exposed. I've also noticed some odd behaviour which I can't figure out. In the attached image, there is some "colour smearing" on the lower right hand side and I'm wondering if anyone here has seen that before.

Your shutter looks fine to me. The right half of the photo is just in shadow, and the "smearing" looks like something out of focus that got into the frame.

Do you have any other examples?

Too short shutter times together with flash will make parts of the image black, unless high-speed sync is used.

that color smear looks like something oof in your frame... you didnt see it in your viewfinder cuz its only a 95% viewfinder
