Coming into summer here in New Zealand and on Saturday the local club put on a tough hilly road race that finished at the top of a 12km long climb. Here's a few shots that I think capture a tough day in the saddle...

1.

I like tight crops but try not to crop across the bars. I'm looking forward to cycling starting up here at the end of Jan.

Nice job. Now that it's been brought up, the crops (or framing) do seem a little awkward to me.

1. Rider seems squished into the lower left corner. Lots of room over his head, but his legs are chopped kinda weird and his saddle is just clipped.

2. Lots of blank space on the left. Shoot or crop portrait?

3. Nice expression on the dropped rider. Would Graham Watson have missed the lead rider's toe? I dunno, maybe crop it a bit differently?

4. Nice. That face says it all. LOL

Good stuff though, keep 'em coming for us in the frozen northland. No bike racing here for another 3 to 4 months!

Good crisp images. I was trying to guess where the race was...Whitemans Valley?

Race was over in the Wairarapa with a finish on the second summit of Admirals Hill.

Noted the comments on the framing (they're all as shot, not cropped at all). I'll keep this in mind for next time.

Cheers.

Nice shots. I actually like the way the first two are framed, however, as B.B. suggests, there is too much space over the riders head in #1. Those first two actually follow the Rule of Thirds rather nicely. One small piece of advice though, try upping the contrast a hair and bump the saturation up a bit more. The colors are a little flat.
