Just got this in the other day and yes I really need to get pics up of it but honestly...
GO OUT AND BUY THIS THING!
Everything is super solid, much heavier and much more solid than the price reflects. No unnecessary torque is required to lock down the pieces. The movement is very fluid, the steel is a nice heavy gauge, the sandbag and clip works perfectly. The base is nice and wide, the only drawback here in time to set up is that there are two knobs to tighten. The whole set easily holds two 580's on a custom dual flash bracket and a softbox. Just need some counterweights in the INCLUDED sandbag. The included stud is nice, chrome and heavy duty.
I was going to go the Impact route since I'm not using a boom much, but since I got this and my Photoflex OctoDome I'm going to be using that setup much, much more. Of course it's not a super boom, but it's a super boom! :D

For an extra $40, I'd get the Manfrotto:

The Manfrotto weighs less and can support more weight as a stand or as a boom.

The Manfrotto does not do the auto set up and collapse that the Cheeta does.

What makes you think the boom stand has the same auto opening feature as the Cheetah C8 stand? Look at the video on youtube. When the boom stand is lifted off the ground the legs do not retract.

Another member Robert (TMR Design) has used some of the Cheetah products and has been happy with them.

Search out here to see some of his feedback...

I do product research and development as well as beta testing for Cheetah.

The Cheetah8 is the collapsible stand with the legs that fold in as you lift the stand and open when you place the stand down again.

The Cheetah Boom Stand DOES NOT use this same design. It is a convertible boom that is designed for use with hot shoe flash units and modifiers no larger than a 24" softbox with a grid. The base of the stand is no different from any other stand. It does have a nice wide footprint and comes with the sandbag.

The Cheetah12 is on the way but I believe it won't be available for another month or so.

You can always find something better for more money :D . What if you add the Qbox 16 w/ louver for 10 dollars more than the Manfrotto? Now which one is better?
Although I haven't tested it, I'd be willing to bet the Cheetah can actually support more weight than advertised. It's very stout.

After reading the specs for the Cheetah boom, I surely would NOT want to try to use it with a studio monolight sporting a large softbox. For a lightweight load such as a Speedlite with a modifier, it's probably quite acceptable.

Looking at the tube diameters, I suspect the weight limits in the specs are a bit on the optimistic side - especially for a fully extended boom.

Another thing that I would not care for is the "sandbag" as a counterweight. How would you balance the boom with it? Would you add or remove weight from the bag?

I prefer the movable 15-lb counterweight that's supplied with the Manfrotto 085BS boom kit. It's very easy to achieve perfect balance for the whole boom, putting the weight of the loaded boom directly over the center line of the stand.

I also prefer the fact that the entire boom with the 085BS kit is 35mm in diameter. You add sections to make it longer. It is quite able to support significantly more weight than the Cheetah or even the Manfrotto 420B.
