Sometimes if I'm motivated enough, I'll get over the fact that it's cold and rainy outside and get to work. Here are some shots over the past couple of years that crappy weather has given me.

Decided to use the prescription I had:

Decided to take a smoke shot:

Decided to emulate a photographer by the name of Dave Nitcshe:

Decided to make fun of my wife:

Decided to make use of some flowers in the house:

Decided to take a self-portrait with my wife:

Decided to use my ring to show the message of Jeremiah 31:

Decided to use a red mug that I found to be pretty:

A few more:

Decided to make use of what was under the tree:

Decided to use a friend's car:

Decided to make a cliche shot with some cards:

Decided these flowers were pretty:

Lastly (even though it doesn't really fit), I decided to show myself being enlightened:

Do it! It was easier than I thought. All that was required was some incense: which I obtained at Target. I used a single 580ex placed underneath the incense sticks and fired upwards into the smoke.

I also motivated the smoke movement a little by wafting gently with the palm of my hand. Otherwise the air in the room needs to be somewhat still.

By the way, it took me about 120 shots until I got one that I liked.

All great stuff! I wish I was half as creative, I get so bored stuck at home or in my office and I never know what to shoot. You've inspired me to try again!

Don't worry, me too - these results are the minority. The vast majority of bored days are unproductive and unmotivated.

Thanks everyone!

Very inventive use of a rainy day. Please Sir, can I have some more? :)

I really needed this thread to give me some ideas of what's possible. I got my 7D just over 2 months ago, and have been blessed with a total of 6 days with some sunlight in them.

I'm normally a bird shooter. :(

Haha so sorry, that stinks! Do you have a Christmas tree by chance? I used it to take a self-portrait and grab some bokeh:

No, no tree, but I do have a collection of incense sticks. What was the lighting for that smoke, flash?

Yeah. I just rested a 580exII underneath the smoke and fired upwards. 1/500th, f18, iso100, 35mm. It was pretty boring until I started very gently wafting my hands towards the smoke. Otherwise still air in the room.

Took about 120 shots to get what I wanted. Good luck! :)
