So FINALLY. I finally found the bald eagles in the Oregon/Washington area. Took me forever to finally find a good spot and now I've capitalized on it. I'm so excited!

Well, first I had to bring the right equipment...

More to come, but meanwhile, anyone have any post processing tips for these types of photos? I'm really new to the PP thing, but I'm wanting to learn!

Thanks!

Nice shot! Thats a monster lens. Id start out by adjusting the levels manually, then work on contrast, unsharp mask, and check the highlights and shadows. With a great image like that you can really do a lot. I can show you what adjustments Id do if you want, but "image editing" isnt on in your profile. :)

I just messed around in curves, shadow/highlight, and contrast and got this. Just a quick adjustment. It can def use some more adjusting to make it look more "real." Curves can be fun to play with. You learn as you go.

With some tweaking and time put into it you could really do a lot. Id try separating the background maybe though. Because it gets so washed out. Personal preference though. I like a nice blue background when it works.

Great shot! Jealous of the pic, and the lens :) No offence to the O.P. but I'm really impressed with the edit.

I usually use the vibrant slider in ACR to help with the blue background. I also open up the shadows in the photo. Here's one of my photos that I did some work too, but not much.

Where did you find 'em if you don't mind me asking? I've found a few but they're not in very photogenic locations. There's one that winters about 15 minutes from my house, but it's a very hard spot to get any photos from. I suppose if I had that setup it'd be a lot easier.

Here's a quick edit I did. I used Lightroom to add some fill light, increase exposure a tad, alter the hue of the sky slightly, the reduced the sky luminescence to make it more blue.

Like the first one. As for the rest the all just don't cut it for me. Somethings you just can't mess with and this is one of them for me.
Nice shot
