I am a subscriber of Canon's 'You Connect'. Perhaps you know that they publish users' picture in their monthly gallery. I have sent them my photos twice before. But they were never get published .

As a photography lover, I am very confident that photos I have sent them were better than some of the photos they have published. But I dont know why they are not published.

Can you guess what would be the reason?
Does it happen to you?

Thanks, Jay
Happy Holidays!

Can you post some of the photos you submitted, maybe in the critique corner and link to that thread here in this thread. If you're confident they were better, the CC will either confirm that or confirm why they were excluded. My guess is that according to their site they say they receive over 3000 images each month. I don't subscribe to it so I don't know how many images are included in each newsletter but I imagine it can't be anymore than 20 or 30 photos.

I'd think you are asking the wrong audience and you are not even showing any of the pics you submitted 0 how is anyone to comment on this? If you feel that you should have been published then you should talk to Canon!

Hi, Here are the pictures I sent them. I sent the first one (Nature's Blessing) last year and second on one month back. I will upload two more pictures in my next post.

The reason why I am asking this here is to know whether any one had the similar experience like me.

Big size of these pictures can be seen in Flickr website;
1. Nature's Blessing (external link)
2. Tyne Bridge (external link)

Thanks! Jay

Ok of the four, I would only consider 1 of them.

1) Nature's Blessing... Horizon is off and that will be a major distraction. I don't necessarily subscribe to horizons have to ALWAYS be level, but in this case, it does.
2) Tyne Bridge... This is the one I would consider, it's not bad... just maybe less sky.
3) Photographers... The ball cap in the foreground ruins it. It isn't really a framing element, so get rid of it.
4) One Fine Morning... For the processing, to each his own, but generally people would rather see FACES and not backs. Photograph them coming towards you instead of going away from you.

You are true, they put 30 photos in their website per month.

I have submitted these pictures in 'CC' section. The links are below.

Do you have a link to the winning pictures?

Without being a jerk, none of these really "killed it".

Jay, I can see why Canon would not chose your pictures in their publication. The night shot is very sweet - I like that one a lot. The others though all have issues, as outlined above. There are thousands of pictures of photographers using white lenses and unless yours is very unique (which it is not) it would be difficult to make it into the selection. The beach shot just doesn;t work for me - there is nothing really to hold one's interest. The stylized picture with the two bike riders is a very personal matter. The execution is very well done, but it is hit and miss with many audiences.

Hey Jay, horizons are a problem in some of your shots and to a judge that will eliminate you first round. I was going through your flickr and think you have some better photos then what you submitted.

Thanks all! I understand my errors from your nice comments. I will try to eliminate them in my next shootings. Not only the white lenses, even photos taken with the point and shoot cameras also selected in You Connect.
