Local seller has a 70-200 2.8L IS for sale for $1200. Info says "used only in a couple weddings and is in brand new condition"...and also quotes the new price from Amazon.

This is much cheaper than any other used price I've seen for this lens...most are closer to $1500.

Should I be suspicious at this price?

If the seller is local, then you can always arrange to meet & inspect the lens before handing over cash?

Being a few hundred dollars off, it might just be a deal. Being a local deal I'd definitely check it out.

Be sure and check the temperature of the lens.

The price is close enough that it could just be a good find. If it's a local seller just arrange to meet somewhere public and if it doesn't feel fishy I'd go for it.

I just bought mine from someone here for $1300 pp+shipped. If you consider 3% paypal and shipping...

1300-40(paypal) - 20 (insured shipping plus this thing is built like a tank) = 1240.

By the way, it is pristine and not a mark on it.

Sounds like a good deal.

Also check the date code.. You may not want it if its from 2003, or maybe you do, I dont know.

Hi Sue,

maybe be a bit suspicious, but since it is local, drive over and check it out. If it were me, I'd definitely check it out.

actually that's a ok price - however the prices being so high now its a good find .... a few months back $1200-$1300 was all this lens was able to get .....

reminds me of the 17-55 - I sold mines for $550 because I got it for $600 - if I wanted to make some money I would of have sold it for $800 and still would of have sold ....

so yeah if its local go for it .. you just found a great price at the time we are in ..
