This is probably good news (at least until we see the prices).

Dave F. Elinchrom grids sure would be good news. I suppose grids for softboxes and octas is great but why leave out the strips? UGH! Makes no sense to me. Robert

I actually bought the hooded diffuser for my 39" deep octa a while back, thinking it might give me some light control and that I might need it anyway when they finally made grids for this box. After looking at it though, I actually had the same idea that the solution would be to create a hooded diffuser/grid where the grid was sewn into the hooded diffuser and attached the same way as the one I have without the grid. Of course, now I have this almost useless hooded diffuser...I bet they'll be expensive with this design though. Cameras: 1DX, 1D4, 20D, 10D, S90, G2

Mark said that Elinchrom would not be offering grids for the strip boxes in response to an inquiry specifically about grids for strips. He went on to say that a Canadian company had been authorized to make grids for all Elinchrom softboxes. Optimist that I am, I took this to mean strip boxes as well.

I've been holding out for the elinchroms to come out with a strip with grids too long. I just need one and haven't found anything I'm really excited about for the elinchroms. Aaron

I can't wait any more. The Elinchrom strip with grid would be great for location work but in the studio I'll have my strips setup on speed rings and hanging with my other modifiers so they're ready to go. Not to hijack my own thread, but have you decided whose strips you'll be getting, Robert? The 1' x 4' Creative Light recessed front strip looks like it might be a good, cost-effective option.

The 1' x 4' Creative Light recessed front strip looks like it might be a good, cost-effective option. Dave F. I absolutely love Elinchrom modifiers but I'm not married to them. Like you guys I've researched and done price shopping and have always come back to the same few solutions... Chimera, Photoflex and now Creative Light. Of course there are others but if you want good materials and construction, a well made fabric grid for a somewhat reasonable price (Chimera grids are barely in the realm of being reasonably priced), durable and available in at least a small and medium size, then it's hard to find. Many of the inexpensive solutions use materials that are not as nice, with thinner rods, lighter material that leaks light, and are not as convenient to set up and breakdown. Robert
