Can anyone tell me the difference between the BG-E2 and the BG-E2N battery grip. I have the BG-E2 on my 20D and I have a 50D on the way. Can I utilize the same grip?

Thanks in advance...

Either one should work for the 50D. It works with mine.
I believe the main difference is the N has a rubber seal on the battery door.

Just check I am using a BG-E2 on my 50D and it works fine.

BG-E2N $133.95 http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Grip_Battery_Holder.html (external link)
BG-E2 $219.95 http://www.adorama.com …html?sid=1261603399164240 (external link)

so the difference is $86

but seriously, I think it should work despite the fact that BG-E2 has 20D and 30D listed as compatible bodies. Description must have been written before 40 and 50 came out. Worst case if it does not work, you buy BG-E2N from me together with the 420 flash you were gonna buy and save on shipping :)

Short answer YES....

Long aswer:
Okay... have both grips as well as a 60d and a 40d. The only difference as mentioned before is the weather seal on the door at the base. Not that great a weather seal IMO, but better than nothing. Both (either) grips will work on 20,30,40 and 50d. The 10d had it's own as well as the new 7d requiring the new design (which has REAL weathersealing).

In the UK, the E2N is actually cheaper than the E2 to buy new, so it's a no brainer really, unless you are buying used.

I have a BG-E2 on my 40D and have used it in the rain (not really heavy rain, but more than a light shower) and it has been fine. The whole camera, grip and lens were quite wet, but no water seemed to get in through the battery door. Just my experience though...
