I agree Nick, I went in with a mindset of what I wanted and how I wanted to shoot. I found that I took very few shots with the 70-200 on the 5D2 as I couldn't get what I wanted at that fl given the crowd conditions.

There was a DSLR every 2 feet, many of them at least looking like they knew what they were doing. Inside the barriers was jam packed with photogs.

And I think that's really interesting because I felt totally at home with a telephoto lens but not so much with my 50L on my 5DMKII.

That's what's fun about this. We all approach it differently!:D

You have to remember tho, you were at the barrier, I put my kid there and was shooting from behind a really big guy on my left, once folks were close enough to me I jumped to the 24-70 on my 7D. But I do find that in general I shoot wider than necessary.

I shot mostly with the 24-70 but found I couldnt get that close up unless they were walking on my side

Your right. He seemed depressed standing in the middle of the street taking shots.

Good job Mihait.
I like your 4th pic. I think it was a good idea to keep low, and get some wide angle shots from a lower perspective.

Who is he shooting for? Is odd that he is using the on-camera flash!!!! I remember seeing him on the first day of the Chinese New Year. What happened to Mike's fisheye shots....???

Yep, UWA, right up under the floats/performers. That would have offered up some dramatic perspective.

Probably wasn't that bad using the on-board flash since it was during the day and was probably used for fill flash. But yeah, he seemed like a strange guy...kinda just wandering about not looking too happy.
