Visiting NYC

I am going to NYC to visit for holidays . I was wondering is there anyone who can share your good places to go for photoshoot and visit ? I'll be staying in Manhattan area.. thanks guys

I do know that if you want halfway decent pictures of Ground Zero and the activities going on there don't be put off by all the construction fencing surrounding the area. Across the West Side Highway on the 2nd floor of the World Financial Center (WFC) is a wide open viewing floor from which pictures can be taken of the new construction going on at Ground Zero. I didn't try to go into any other nearby higher buildings to see what I could see. The security people in the WFC were very tolerant of all the tourist comings and goings and decent pictures can be had out the large windows on the east side, preferably in the afternoon when the sun isn't shining in the windows. If you are interested in Ground Zero Google it for the various museums about it.

Just start walking and you are bound to find a lot of interesting things to take pictures of.

What do you want to take pictures of?

Chrysler building and the general area if you like architecture some great stone work on some of those building right along side some real nice modern design work see below. Also places like the M&M factory, Times Square, Central Park all in Manhatten. And don't forget plain ole street photography.

If you go to Ground Zero, be sure to look at the mural on the side of "10 House" It's the Fire station directly across from Ground Zero. I think they lost their entire crew. They really don't want visitors inside, in fact the windows are covered, except for the apparatus bay doors. If you look in the right hand bay door you will see a bench by it, with 2 charred helmets on it. Just seeing it will bring up all sorts of emotion. It had more of an affect on me than looking at the site.
On a lighter side, be sure to check out Grand Central Station and the Empire State Building.

My trip to NYC is just to see how the city view looks like for once. I like to experience with NYC , i wanted to see BH PHotovideo store ,Just lots of things i've heard in the Past about NYC .isn't it crazy huh ? lolzzzzzz

One last things though ? How is the Taxi pricing there ? I am pretty much gonna be on Subway go everywhere ? is it pretty expensive ?

Here are the rates. It'll cost you a couple of bucks to go a couple of blocks, maybe $15+ if you're covering some distance in Manhattan, and $25-35 to travel to other boroughs.

Protip: if you intend on leaving Manhattan, don't tell the driver where you're going until you're in the cab. Legally they must take you anywhere within the 5 boroughs, but some of them will lock their doors and drive away if you request such a ride... especially at night.

Protip II: This doesn't apply to private cabs (any car that isn't yellow). They can't pick you up on the street; you must call their dispatcher and request a car. They will try to pick you up anyway. Ride at your own risk and settle on a price before getting in. That price will magically begin to increase as you near your destination.

If you get a private cab the legit way - calling the dispatcher - they'll give you the price in advance.

What about Rent a Car ? is this a better Idea or Taxi ,subway is better ? I am like a foreigner when i get to New York . if we choose the cab , Yellow cab is better than Private cab?

When in Manhattan I take the subway everywhere, and also when I travel from Queens into Manhattan. Traffic is often bad, plus the subway is cheap.

Out late at night & tired - yellow cab. I have an 8-9 mile ride.

Outside of Manhattan, yellow cabs are hard to find. In this case I call private cars.
