Yes, I do. The angle is not the greatest though I didn't get a press pass they were shot from the stands

I took my 7D for a test run yesterday at a local MX track and was extremely underwhelmed. Many photos were very soft and over half were out of focus. My capture rate with my 1D2 was significantly better.
My AF/Drive settings were
1: Slow
2: 0
3: 0
4: 1
5: 0
6: Single point AF
7: 0
8: 1
9 - 11: 0
12: 1
13: 0

ISO 200
1/100 - 1/160 (The pan is my signiture shot)
5.6+
50 1.8 2
RAW
Contrast -1
Sharp 3
Sat +1

Where am I going wrong?

While I do not have a D series to compare to...my 7D keeper rate is pretty good...it misses sometimes (could be operator error) but it also gets some amazing shots.
Here is what I have (don't remember the exact details without the manual)
1: -1 (between slow to mid)
2:0
3:1 - IF I remember correctly this keep the focus trying to track.
4:0
5: Depends on lens
6:Single point expansion
7:1

The rest are the same...Although your shutter speeds are a bit slow unless you are panning.

I did have a media pass and if anything that only made it worse. The media was limited to two small sections that both sucked. That's how it is every year. And the stands were the only place anybody could shoot from, being on the dirt wouldn't make for that great of a shot. Luckily I was able to get a rider guest pass too which let me at least sit in a few different sections.

Those are good, what are you worried about a media pass for? But how did you get your gear in without one? I forgot about that one!

Very nice BD. How do you like the 1D3 so far?

I like it a lot! I like the fact that the LCD thing tells the truth a little more, meaning that photos that look awesome on the camera don't look so good on the computer. It's a lot more real which I like. And it handled running the ISO at 3200 pretty well..You be the judge though! Thanks!
