Aug 12, 2013 16:33 | #4780 Oh sure...I have to post after BDW (Nice shots by the way!). Tried out the 100-400 for MX at Unadilla this weekend, while it is not the 2.8, if seems to work well and focused fast enough for the fist 3 shots, the other 2 were with the 70-200. The Geico boys were having fun! Canon 7DII, 1DIII, and never enough L glass

BrownDogWilson Goldmember 1,456 posts Likes: 286 Joined Aug 2006 More info | Those shots look great! I used to use a 100-400 and it is one of my favorites. I don't know why but it produced some of the best colors for me. And Mataz, yes that that 5D does rock! Inside the Staples Center I left my ISO around 5000 for the most part, and I was very happy to have the 400 with me too. That shot of Hansen for example was shot from all the way across the other side of the arena. They wouldn't let us sit anywhere else. The section where they would be coming right at us was empty the whole weekend, but they wouldn't let us near it. I was able to sneak a few from the tunnel going in, but even then they would catch me and kick me back to the "official" spot. I don't know how they can get their entire staff to be so hardcore about their jobs. 1DX, 1D MarkIV, 5D MarkIII, 70-200mm 2.8., 400mm 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 17-40, 15mm

What I really found funny, and stupid at the same time was the fact that they would give us our credentials which you would think meant that we the media were trustworthy and capable of doing our jobs. Yet when it came to doing behind the fence into the riders area, or on the dirt for the podium shots, we had to find an "escort" to take us there. And these escorts don't just hang around offering their assistance, you have to go and find one. I knew in advance how the system works so I also got a "riders guest pass" which gets you in anywhere, and I constantly had to keep switching my credential back and forth. It was kind of stupid. 1DX, 1D MarkIV, 5D MarkIII, 70-200mm 2.8., 400mm 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 17-40, 15mm
